Why Uzma Wanted to Volunteer
Uzma wanted to do more than support humanitarian work from a distance. She wanted to meet people, get involved directly and see the impact of the mission first-hand.
As she explained, “I really wanted to interact with people hands on.”
By joining Charity Meals in Egypt, Uzma had the opportunity to help with food aid efforts and gain a deeper understanding of the work involved in supporting vulnerable families.
During her time in Egypt, Uzma saw the effort that goes into preparing food parcels and cooking meals for families in need. She gained a first-hand understanding of the practical work behind humanitarian food aid and the importance of providing essential food supplies.
Reflecting on the experience, she shared:
“I have to say, it’s one of the most rewarding things I’ve done. To be able to get hands on and pack family food parcels and cook meals. The effort that goes into helping these people and families. Seeing their gratitude, it’s been a humbling experience.
“You normally hear about these things on TV and radio, and to see firsthand the struggle these families have endured and are still enduring. It’s a wonderful opportunity, and I encourage people to join and support Charity Meals.”
