This June, a new Charity Meals bakery opened in the heart of Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. Since opening, our dedicated teams have been working hard every single day, baking fresh bread from scratch and providing it to the local communities.
This is the impact of your support: smiles, gratitude and nutritious food for the people who need it most. The fresh bread has made a huge difference to the lives of everyone in Cox’s Bazar, including Rohingya refugees and vulnerable families struggling with poverty.
Cox’s Bazar is a very remote region, with over 47% of the population facing extreme poverty due to overstretched resources, limited job opportunities and extreme weather; floods, cyclones and heavy monsoons destroy homes and ruin local farming or fishing incomes. Cox’s Bazar also contains the world's largest refugee settlement, housing over 1 million Rohingya refugees.
Our teams recently travelled to Cox's Bazar, where we launched the first of many projects aimed at supporting Rohingya refugees and vulnerable local communities. The need for basic essentials is immense, with access to nutritious food and safe drinking water remaining one of the greatest daily challenges for thousands of families.
Through our humanitarian projects, Charity Meals is committed to providing life-saving food assistance, improving access to clean water, and delivering sustainable support to those who need it most. This is just the beginning of our work in Cox's Bazar, and we remain dedicated to standing alongside these communities with practical, long-term humanitarian aid.
Every day, our dedicated volunteers and staff work tirelessly at our new bakery to make and distribute fresh bread to those who need it most. Sourcing ingredients from local suppliers in Bangladesh, the bakers prepare and bake the bread each morning and then distribute the fresh loaves to the local community, serving around 1000 people every day.
When the community is served, the happiness and relief on their faces makes it clear: the warm, fresh bread means more than food. For these Rohingya refugees, homeless children and families, it means comfort, dignity, and hope for a better tomorrow.
Shaizaib, a volunteer working at our Bangladesh bakery, said: "This bakery is a vital part of Charity Meals' response to food insecurity in Cox's Bazar. Every loaf that comes out of these ovens helps provide nutritious meals to Rohingya refugees and vulnerable families who rely on this support. This project strengthens our ability to reach more people consistently, ensuring children and families have access to fresh bread, reliable food assistance, and the support they need every day."
Your support makes it possible for us to set up and run daily bakeries and food distributions. One simple act of kindness today can make a huge difference to the lives of people in Bangladesh, and in other communities in need across South Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Every share helps spread awareness. Every donation helps feed another family. Support our work today to help us continue making a difference.
