I will be travelling to Egypt to join Charity Meals on an aid deployment focused on one urgent mission, feeding families facing extreme hunger.
These are women, children and families who have lost everything and have sought refuge there. Many are living in extremely difficult conditions with limited access to education, healthcare and basic facilities. But before anything else, they need food. Without food, nothing else can begin to improve.
What the Deployment Will Involve
The days will involve obtaining in depth case studies so that we truly understand the family’s situation. We will be identifying areas of improvement in processes and delivery so that support can become even more effective.
We will be distributing family food parcels, preparing, cooking and serving hot meals directly to those in need. Beyond food distribution, we will also spend time with children who have been affected by conflict and trauma, giving them a small but meaningful moment of escapism and care.

A hot meal provides immediate strength and comfort. A food parcel provides essential staples that allow a family to cook and eat for weeks. Baby milk ensures infants receive the nutrition they need in their most vulnerable stage of life.

I chose to join Charity Meals because they are a food focused charity dedicated to tackling extreme hunger and providing the basics for survival. They understand that food is not just aid. Food is dignity, strength and stability.
Every meal is carefully prepared to meet nutritional guidelines appropriate for the country. This means the food is balanced and thoughtfully planned to provide proper nourishment, especially for children and vulnerable families. It is not simply about filling stomachs. It is about sustaining lives.
